Change power saving time setting.
I have a Dell U2711 connected by DVI to my Windows 8.1 PC with an NVIDIA GTX 760 card. If I leave the mouse and keyboard unused for about 5 minutes, the screen goes black. If I then wiggle the mouse the screen display reappears. My windows settings are for the display to never sleep, so I think it's something set in the monitor. Is this true? If so, how do I change the time limit and/or turn it off completely? Thanks, Jim

There is nothing in the monitor OSD (On Screen Display) Menu to control power management. This is all done from the operating system. Test this:
* Disconnect the monitor USB upstream cable from the computer
* Disconnect all USB devices from the monitor USB ports
* The USB mouse and keyboard should be plugged directly into the computer

Yes...I couldn't find anything in the OSD Menu either. I'm not sure about your suggested test though. I have no USB cables or devices plugged into my monitor, just DVI and power.35720

I think there is a power setting in the operating system doing this. Is this a desktop or laptop?

It's a desktop. I have the following set... Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings > Turn off hte display: 30 minutes. (I would attach a screenshot but the "Save" button doesn't seem to upload the file.)35720

* Bring up the Power User Menu with your keyboard by pressing the WIN (Windows) key and the X key together
* Open the Device Manager* Open Keyboards
* Right click the device
* Left Click Properties
* Left click Power Management
* Remove the check from "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
* Be sure "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" is checked
* Click OK* Open Mice and other pointing devices
* Right click the device
* Left Click Properties
* Left click Power Management
* Remove the check from "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
* Be sure "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" is checked
* Click OK* Open Network adaptors
* Right click each device one at a time
* Left Click Properties
* Left click Power Management (some will not have this tab. skip them)
* Remove all checks
* Click OK* Open Universal Serial Bus controllers
* Right click each device one at a time
* Left Click Properties
* Left click Power Management (some will not have this tab. skip them)
* Remove the check from "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
* Be sure "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" is checked
* Click OK* Open PCI Express, Link State Power Management
* Set all to Off
* Click Apply- OK

Thanks for your suggestions. I did all of those except the PCI Express one which I don't seem to have. Sadly, the problem persists.35721

Test the monitor on another computer using DVI. If the issue does not appear, the fault is not with the monitor.

I have found the solution. I had the Windows screensaver set to blank the screen after 5 minutes. All OK Now. Thanks.
