E190S, DisplayPort, PSM

My tower does not have two video out ports for two monitors, so I bought a DisplayPort to be able to use both monitors. The E190S goes immediately into PSM (power save mode) when connected to the DisplayPort.  How can fix this without buying another monitor? I don't know alot about computers so any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Very confusing.

The E190S monitor only has one video VGA in port. So how are you using DisplayPort?

Explain this in detail, "so I bought a DisplayPort". Are you saying that you bought a video card and installed it in the tower? If yes, what specific video card? What are its video out ports?

    You have lost me.

    What PC model?

None of our monitors ship with splitters? Link to the thing you bought. This is a VGA in port which is on the E190S =

This is the VGA to VGA cable that shipped with the E190S =

I have 2 monitors. I bought a display port adapter to be able to use both monitors.

The 2 monitors came with a splitter but I bought the display port adapter so that I could use the move different applications to different screens and be able to work faster instead. The adapter is plugged into a USB port on the tower.

I bought the Dell Optiplex Desktop Computer with dual monitors from a different seller. It had a splitter attached. While attaching the VGA cable to one of the monitors, the ends bent so I bought another VGA to VGA cable and every time I plug it into the display port adapter the monitor instantly goes into power save mode.
