I have a Dell Latitude C840, which I guess is at least five years old - earlier today the monitor went black. I moved it forward a little and it briefly flickered on, but no more. I've had the laptop hooked up to a larger secondary monitor, so I can still use the computer, but I kind of got used to having the two monitors on at the same time - anything helps, my eyes aren't so great anymore. Clearly, the computer is no longer under warranty, so I'd like to know what my options are. Is it possible to fix this problem (replace the lamp, etc.)? Would it make more sense to remove the laptop's monitor and just place my secondary monitor behind the computer as a replacement? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
