Hello, I have a Dell P3424WEB monitor with an integrated camera connected via USB-C to my Macbook Pro M1 on macOS 14.6 and I keep having issues with the camera. If I disconnect the laptop from the monitor and connect it again, the camera is usually undetected. If I use it on Zoom, the video often freezes and needs to be turned off and on again in the Zoom app. I have installed the latest firmware for the monitor, Dell Display Manager, but the issue persists. What should I do to fix this? It is very frustrating to have such a cool integrated camera which only works sometimes (typically after restart of my Mac). Also - my colleague reported the same issues on 16" Macbook Pro M2.
Apple M1 Pro (2021) and I am having the same issues. Sometimes the camera can be recognised by the apps and other times none of the apps can see it. Have tried changing cables and unplugging and replugging cables (both HDMI and USBC) but only fix is a restart of the macbook which is not appropriate when you are expected on time to an online meeting. Have latest firmware. Only received monitor this week so very disappointed with this unpredictable behaviour.
They released a new firmware (M2T103) for this monitor but it still didn't resolve our issues. Nor does it mention it being resolved so hopefully in the next firmware it is addressed.
Since installing the latest firmware for my monitor a week ago, I started having the same issue: The camera picture freezes periodically every few minutes.
I've tried installing / re-installing the driver; it didn't help. Resetting the monitor settings also didn't help. I've also tried various zoom camera options; they didn't improve the freezes.
This issue makes my days extremely hard, as I'm on zoom all day. :(
I use an M2 Macbook Pro with the latest OS. The monitor connects with a single USB-C.
I was also having this problem and in the MacBook Console app -> Crash Reports -> there were UVCAssistant crash reports in the log at the same time the camera would become unavailable. I purchased another web camera and had the same problems and the same crash reports so verified this was the issue.
Since then I have updated my MacBook to OS Sequoia (15.0) and the camera has become stable and I am no longer seeing the UVCAssistant crash reports in the apple crash logs.
I’m seeing this in multiple different MacBooks on the p2724deb monitor as well. Only fix is a restart until the driver crashes again randomly. This is with the 103 firmware on the monitors.
Also reporting I have an end user on an M1 MacBook Pro; Sonoma 14.6.1 that has this issue while she is Zoom. Zoom is up-to-date and she is on the latest firmware M2T103.
Her audio doesn't cut out, it's simply the camera video freezing up so she has to switch to the internal camera.

Exactly the same issue, appeared right after unboxing the monitor, terrible customer experience won't keep it. Just bought this monitor, started a first video call and get a frozen picture of me after couple of seconds. Since then the camera won't turn on until I reboot the mac. I was so confused then seeing it occur again and again I start a search on the internets. How can Dell not answer here? This is a major issue. Waiting couple of days but if no answer I'll send the monitor back their way for a refund, it's totally unacceptable.
Dell needs to first verify the ownership and warranty status. Click the blue "Get Help Now" on the right to start a private live chat session. Share the private P3424WEB Service Tag with them.
The P3424WEB USB-C/DP port only provides up to 90 W. So if the Mac AC power adapter was higher wattage, perhaps test by plugging that into the Mac.
The P3424WEB Menu- Audio & Webcam should have Webcam & Presence Sensor Enabled. Next time it fails, enter there and verify. Another thing to try, rotate the Webcam to lock and unlock the camera shutter to see if that will bring it back.
Are you on firmware M2T103 or later and using the DDPM 1.3.2.0015 released yesterday? It states =
Description This package contains the Dell Display and Peripheral Manager application, version 1.3.2. Dell Display and Peripheral Manager application helps to customize and manage your Dell monitors and webcam on Mac operating system.
Important Information - This application requires the Display Data Channel/Command Interface (DDC/CI) to be enabled to work. - This package supports the Mac 12, 13, 14 and 15 operating system.
I do not have an Apple PC to test what that in bold actually means. If I go to the P3424WEB Documentation page, I do see the, "Dell Display and Peripheral Manager on Mac User's Guide". Page 73 dscusses the Webcam. Page 93 = Unable to detect supported Dell monitor or webcam
We have done all the things you suggested and none of those seems to resolve the issue. I had a case open with dell but it appears it is closed with no resolution, if that helps in tracking these issues.
