I have a M782 monitor, and recently it has started going black for 1-2 seconds. It isn't losing power because the indicator light doesn't change color. It will do this several times at once, or I can go days without it happening once. When the screen returns, all information is there as before. Any clue out there?
I just started having the same problems too and was about to post asking why. I hope someone can help us out! I have the same monitor model as you do with my Dimension 8300. PLEASE someone HELP!!
Put the monitor in its optimal resolution to see if the problem persist.
Setting the Optimal Resolution: Dell™ M782 Color Monitor User's Guide
For optimal monitor performance while using the Microsoft® Windows® operating systems, set the display resolution to 1024 x 768 pixels by performing the following steps:
Click the Start button, point to Settings and click Control Panel.
Double-click the Display icon in the Control Panel window and then click the Settings tab.
In the Desktop area, move the slidebar to 1024 by 768 pixels. Then click OK.
I was directed to
http://support.dell.com/us/en/kb/document.asp?DN=1024347 by technical support online. They instructed me to "Troubleshoot the Video Adapter" which I did. So far it seems to have worked, but I'll give it a few days since it doesn't happen daily.
I have a dell 8250 with the m782 monitor also .I have the same exact problem .Did the video card thing you were told to try work kimsi?please let me know,Im not very technical and would like to know if it works before i attempt it.also will phone techs walk me thru it before I ttry? This random black out is driving me crazy. So far all I get from teh is to reset the refresh rate and the resolution...over and over, thats not the problem peoples!
Hi kimzi, Thanks for the fast responce!I will go ahead and try it myself, you r right very intimadating! But it has worked for you eh?and it looks like you may have done it some time ago,at least by the posting dates on your last messages. Thanx again
Hi Stone, so far it seems to have worked. No, techie support didn't walk me thru it, I printed out the instructions and did it myself. Trying to get someone on the phone to help is not an easy thing. They wanted me to reset the monitor to factory settings. It doesn't have anything to do with the monitor in my opinion. And then they wanted me to check all the cables to make sure everything was plugged in correctly. Well DUH! Try the link, print out the instructions, and do it yourself. It isn't difficult, just a bit intimidating at first. You can do it! :)
