Go to SolutionU2520D, MacBook Pro, USB Type-C, audio out
I connect my MacBook Pro to U2520D with the provided USB Type-C cable (supposed to transmit both the video and audio signal). As U2520D doesn't have any built-in speakers, I would need to get an external one. So, what options do I have to get the audio from the USB Type-C input, please? Can I only use the Audio line-out port? Can I use a USB speaker? Thanks.

Correct. You have to connect powered external speakers to the U2520D Audio line-out port. Then somewhere within the macOS, chose U2520D as the default audio output device. The U2520D USB Type-A downstream ports would not provide audio.
