The monitor had been working perfectly and went dark. Now, I can not switch inputs or even turn it on/off. I unplugged everything. Held power button in for 1 minute. Viola its is working!

By doing the unplug/hold power button, you "reset" it. Good troubleshooting.

You, sir, are a life saviour.
My U2713HM had the same issue for a while -> go to sleep, never wakes up, a few hours unplugged use to fix it.
I found the same kind of steps to follow elsewhere but the 1min hold was the key (instead of 10s).
My steps.based on your input.
- unplug everything.
- hold power button for at least 1min.
- plug power cable
- press power button (should power on)
- plug back everything else.
- profit.
Once again thanks.

Yay! That worked! Thought I'd be shopping for a new monitor!
