I think your expectations of what that 2016 laptop can achieve are off. I do not think that the older GTX 970m can drive the U3417W at 3440x1440 60Hz and the U2718Q 3840x2160 60Hz via the DP MST daisy chain. Have you contacted Razer support and asked if they had tested this configuration?
This is how I would set them up in extended =
Razer Blade Thunderbolt 3/USB Type-C out --> USB Type-C to DP cable --> U2718Q DP in port (3840x2160 60Hz)
Razer Blade HDMI 1.4b out port --> HDMI to HDMI cable --> U3417W HDMI in port (2560x1440 60Hz) *IF the Razer can push this resolution?
It's definitely possible that I'm asking too much of it, it's a lot of pixels for a mobile GPU to push.
I haven't checked with Razer, but I thought I had read of those running this configuration. I'll double check.
Razer has confirmed that I can't output from the USB-C and the HDMI at the same time. If I connect one monitor via the HDMI it disables the USB-C monitor connection and vice versa.
That is an odd restriction. I have not seen that "one or the other video out port" restriction on our gaming laptops. You might try that specific USB Type-C to DP cable I linked and see if the daisy chain will work.
If you had a desktop PC with a recent video card that had DP out or mDP out, it would also give you chance to test the daisy chain.
I wonder if the Razer TB3/USB Type-C could drive this?
