U2722D, pointless USB-C? #2
Referencing this thread = U2722D, pointless USB-C?
Doesn't the U2722D USB-C downstream port provide 15W of power? Not useless and enough to charge a mobile phone. 25W would be better for charging a home but 15W is something. I purchased the U2722D to use with a desktop computer. It has most of the ports, minus the Ethernet and 90W charging that are handy for laptops. Plus it was about a $100 less and in stock.
The U2722D has a place, it's a good match for desktops and costs less. The U2722DE is a great option for laptops with its Ethernet and 90W charging. I might have picked the U2722DE if I didn't already have a WD19TB dock for my laptop.

My U2722D charges works well with a desktop and charges my phone. It has mobile phone charging with up to 15W via USB-C. I have fast charging disable on my Samsung Galaxy and see 750ma to 1210ma charging. For my laptop the U2722DE provides up to 90W of power delivery on the low side when some laptop require 130W or more. My WD19TB provides 130W and thunderbolt.
For a desktop the U2772D work well, for a laptop a WD19TB hub provides more power and thunderbolt. Dock and non hub monitor may work best for laptops. For power-hungry laptop, the up to 210W WD19TCS may be needed.

@DylanMitchell I suspect the 15W max is because that’s as high as you can go if you only support the standard 5V output, because at least for now, 3A is the max amperage allowed at voltages below 20V, and 5V * 3A = 15W. Anything more would have required the port to support at least 9V output, which would have required the port to support the USB PD spec, which means more complexity and cost, etc.
