I am have a issue with a server not being backed up through the NMC. It states Probe job had unrecoverable failure(s), this job is being abandoned. I have been able to go into the Networker client and do backup from there. it is able to connect to the Networker and backup successfully. However, the other day I attempted to recover files from that server hand recieved an error stating ;
No index was found. You have not backed up any files from the source machine, or you need to be connected to the serveras a supervisor.
I am logged on as the admin and have intiated backup several times. Also, from networker, I am able to see the server. And can see the networker from the client server
In addition to what Vipin and Hari have said here, also check the entries in the clients servers file. Ensure that the first entry in the servers file is the hostname of the NetWorker server.
Thank you for you time, I was wonder if you could be more descriptive on where to look. I am under the impressionto check in the configuration button under clients. want to make sure I am looking in the correct area.
i was able to ping both ways. I also added the info to the hosts files. not sure what I am looking for when I use the command rpcinfo -p hostname. If you could describe for me I would appreciate it.

Hi Kaz,
The manual backup works fine & the scheduled backups fail with "Probe job had unrecoverable failure(s)".
This could be communcation issue between server & client ,
1) ping
2) rpcinfo -p hostname ( from server specify clientname & viceversa )
3) add an entry in the hosts file with IP address , FQDN & shortname of the client & re-run the backups from the NMC.
HTH.
