I don't know which NW FS version you have but i assume the latest (7.6) as it seems to be a new installation.

What you stated looks weird as there is this clear licensing statement in the FS 7.6 Release Notes:

Features provided with base enablers
The base enablers are packaged with:
◆ One server on either Windows or Linux
◆ Up to 20 clients of any OS or combination
◆ Any combination of up to five of the following application modules:
• NetWorker Module for Oracle Server
• NetWorker Module for SQL Server
• NetWorker Module for Exchange Server
• NetWorker Module for Microsoft Applications
◆ A single 40 slot Jukebox with a maximum of 16 devices
◆ 10 TB capacity to backup to disk (DBO) or EDL

Note: The EDL 10 TB license that comes with NetWorker Fast Start works successfully with EDL 1500 and 3000 libraries by using DL 1.1.3 firmware. Ensure that the DL 1.1.3 firmware is installed for correct operation

BTW - i never heard of "NetWorker Express" and could not find it in the internet. It could be an OEM version, though.

No, you don't.  With DD you either use CIFS/NFS/Boost or VTL... you can't mix it to my best knowledge.  You need only autochanger license if you plan to use one.

I'm not sure how things are these days, but in early days of faststart there was an announcement which I still have in my inbox which stated:

NetWorker Fast Start includes the following with a single enabler: ·         A NetWorker Server Network Edition—Linux and Windows ·         20 NetWorker clients ·         Up to five application instances for any combination of Microsoft SQL Server, Exchange or Oracle ·         Support up to 10TB capacity for backup to Disk (DBO) or EMC Disk Library (EDL) ·         A 40-slot autochanger license is also provided as a separate enabler

Now, it looks as if this has changed.  Nevertheless, it sounds as autochanger licenses comes included as part of fast start license (even it is given as separate license).

I also didn't work with FS licensing (as that is the issue here), but my understanding is that basic FS license out of box does not support device with capacity as the one you wish to present.  Not sure how NW does it today, but in the past check was based on space used by disk device and not how much has been allocated.  Nevertheless, this capacity licenses can be expanded so if your customer had a combo deal for both software and hardware then offer should include add-on license to address missing capacity as well.

We just cannot answer you question because we don't know the license.

If you already installed the software, run "nsrlic -nvv -c license_code". Mybe the outcome will tell you more.

That's interesting as I believe on EMC World someone told me you can't mix those.  Not sure if that might be some sort of limitation which arises from boost (or perhaps it was just referenced to DD Archived...?).  I will need to dig a bit on that one to understand where did I get this idea in the first place...  Thnx!

If i have ~8TB of usable space, according to the paragraph in the install guide, i have to purchase fast start with 20 clients so that it will support up capacity of my DD, unless EMC can upgrade my capacity license by itself without needing to buy more client licenses.
