Release SQL license

After deleting an SQL client, it is still holding the SQL license, how do you get the license to release without having to delete the NT client?

Usually restarting the client and server fix the problem.

Are there index entries left of this SQL client?! This could be the reason why licence is still holding.

I've seen this problem before and all I can remember is that it did not want to release the license! I think what I did was delete the client and indexes, then readd it (so it would have a new client ID) and then I think the license was freed.

    You can also try this
Note down the enabler code & authcode of the SQL module . Delete the license & reapply the license using the old enabler & auth code.
    The license will get free.

You have to delete all references of the client (NT and SQL) to get NetWorker to release the license. Copy the Client ID of the NT client BEFORE you delete it. Delete the NT client and run "nsrlic -v" and you should see the license as free. re-create the NT client and paste in the old client id.

I've done this a gazillion times in my environment because we add clients faster than they give me licenses for so I have to juggle staging verses production for license allocation.

    Cheers

Dana, what do you mean by clientId? Maybe Client name? I am using NMC on wndows 2003,

On command you have recommended nsrlic -v I could not see the storage nodes. I could only see "connected clients", which might be "storage nodes"?

Client ID is something different to client name - its a unique identifier which Networker will use to store indexes under
