Connecting Multiple Switches for best performance.

Hi I recently inherited a network mess.  I have a Sonicwall NSA 3500 with a single LAN routing thru 4 switches and to 4 servers. I would like to increase the bandwidth between the switches using Link Aggregation Groups.  The current network setup is 2 Dell 2848 PowerConnect switches for mainly the data connections, and 2 Netgear POE Switches that handle the VOIP phones as well as data pass thru to the PCs for those who have phones. (Netgear GS748TP & Netgear GS728TP)  All traffic is currently being run thru a single Dell 2724 PowerConnect being used as a master switch.  My initial thought would be to remove the bottleneck from the 2724 and instead just link the 4 switches together using LAGs in a mesh network improving performance and redundancy.  3 LAGs per switch would be for inter-connecting to other switches and one LAG per switch would used to tie to one of the servers.  Any feedback or comments would be welcome.  (Other available resources are 8 more Dell 2724 switches with 12 SFP transceivers that are currently unused.)

    Hi,

    I have a similar mess single network. were your switches in managed mode or unmanaged?

    I have sonicwall and two powerconnets 2748's. I am having to setup managed to configure the LAG ports. I am trying to do this without changing all of the ip's for the network.
