Dell N2000 Set voice vlan l2 priority

I am struggling with setting the l2 priority of an interface with voice vlan as requested by a vendor. If I manually set it to 5 with the command: switchport voice vlan dot1p 5 : then I lose the switchport voice vlan id.

Here is my current configuration:

switchport mode general
switchport general allowed vlan add 120
switchport general allowed vlan add 40 tagged
switchport voice vlan 40
switchport voice vlan override-authentication

Here is the packet capture with the above configuration:

 Telecommunications Industry Association TR-41 Committee - Network Policy
1111 111 = TLV Type: Organization Specific (127)
0 0000 1000 = TLV Length: 8
Organization Unique Code: 00:12:bb (Telecommunications In
Media Subtype: Network Policy (0x02)
Application Type: Voice (1)
0 = Policy: Defined
1 = Tagged: Yes
0 0000 0101 000 = VLAN Id: 40
0 00 = L2 Priority: 0
10 1110 = DSCP Priority: 46

Adding the command: switchport voice vlan dot1p 5 : removes the voice vlan and results in the following t l v:

 Telecommunications Industry Association TR-41 Committee - Network Policy
1111 111 = TLV Type: Organization Specific (127)
0 0000 1000 = TLV Length: 8
Organization Unique Code: 00:12:bb (Telecommunications In
Media Subtype: Network Policy (0x02)
Application Type: Voice (1)
0 = Policy: Defined
1 = Tagged: Yes
0 0000 0000 000 = VLAN Id: 0
1 01 = L2 Priority: 5
10 1110 = DSCP Priority: 46

Thank you for any hep

    JHBulldog,

    I would start with following the link here to an article that walks though enabling Voice VLAN, read that and make sure you have followed the steps outlined, and then we can go from there.

    Let me know what you see.

    Hello Chris,

    I have followed the steps in the guide.

    The command "show voice vlan interface gi1/0/1" returns the following:

    Interface Gi1/0/1
    Voice VLAN Interface Mode Enabled
    Voice VLAN ID 40
    Voice VLAN COS Override False
    Voice VLAN DSCP Value 46
    Voice VLAN Port Status Enabled
    Voice VLAN Authentication Disabled

    and the command "show voice vlan" returns:

    Administrative Mode Enable

    Thank you for any help

    Hey Chris,

    Here is the information the Mitel rep is referring to when he requested L2 priority change.

    Thank you for the help

    JHBulldog,

    I am still looking into this for you, but wanted confirm something with you.
    Do you know if you have switchport voice vlan priority set to trusted or untrusted? I am fairly certain it will be on Trusted, as it is default, but wanted to make sure.

    Let me know.

    Thank you. Have you updated the latest firmware version yet, which came out recently?

    Chris,

    A side note, I defaulted and went to a generic configuration following the example on page 924 pf https://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_networking_int/esuprt_networking_switches_series/esuprt_networking_switches_powerswitch/networking-n2000-series_user%27s-guide16_en-us.pdf.

    I believe the examples have not been updated to the current syntax but please point me to the correct resource if I am in error.

    Thank you

    Chris,

    I updated the firmware to 6.7.1.9. I defaulted the config of the test port, and entered the following config:

    switchport voice vlan 3
    switchport voice vlan dot1p 5

    The second command clears the voice vlan once again both in the capture and the config file itself.

    (please note I have been using test values for the voice vlan in this discussion, not to confuse)

    Thank you

    JHBullfrog,

    At this point I am not certain as to what is the specific cause. What I suggest is to call in to support, that way we can analyze the issue directly. When you call in reference you case number.
