OS10 upgrade
I'm installing our first S4148T and am having issues trying to upgrade OS10 from 10.4.3.4 to the latest in our digital locker 10.5.1.3. I place the .bin on an TFTP server and am able to complete image download successfully.
However when I try to do image install, it begins but then fails with a state detail of Failed: Operation not permitted. I have tried to install from image:// and tftp:// with the same results.
Seems like I'm missing something easy. Next up will be to try the upgrade via a USB drive but I'm not clear why what I'm doing won't work.

I am logged on as an admin account, role sysadmin, privilege level 15.
I used WinZip to extract the bin, not 7zip. I'll download and try 7zip.
Yes the bin shows in the image directory. The download completes fine but the load fails.
It is not a VLT environment.
I'm currently remote accessing the PC that has a serial connection to the switch (I can also connect via SSH) so I can't try USB but will be onsite tomorrow.

I knew it would turn out to be something easy. It was an issue with WinZip's handling of tar files. I had read the warning but assumed the latest licensed version of WinZip Pro wouldn't have such a problem. I also couldn't spot how to change the CR/LF handling (until after I switched to 7-Zip).
Unzipping the tar files with 7-Zip enabled me to update both OS10 and the firmware.
Thanks for the prompt assist.
Now if I can just figure out how to do something with the extraordinary amount of fan noise put out by this switch. I guess it just wants to be heard over the din from the 4 servers and 4 other switches in the rack!

Anytime, happy to help.
Regarding the fans, I would first verify if that switch is up to date on updates.
If not then update it and see if the fan issue is resolved.

I'll check tomorrow to see if the latest firmware upgrade I just installed made any difference but I'm not optimistic.
There are 2 users who unfortunately have to office with the Dell rack and they were complaining to me as soon as it came online. I suspect it is the fan's pitch as much as the noise level. However for such a small unit, having 6 fans spinning at 7000+ rpm seems a bit much.
As one of the users said, she's fine as long as she doesn't put in her hearing aids.
Hi, sorry for activating this question again. It is also about s4128t switch (VLT env), upgrade hops.
What is and how many hops is between current version and the last recommended version?

Hi, right now I can't see excatly which version is latest but for example you can think like that upgrade from OS10 version 10.5.0.1 to 10.5.4.7, you need to perform two hops: 10.5.0.1 > 10.5.1.3 > 10.5.4.7

I have found the last version

Currently it is 10.5.5.3 and I have successfully performed upgrade.
One question after upgrading. Partition A still have old image. How can I manage that both partitions have the same 10.5.5.3 image?

Would you do me a favor and confirm some things for me, in order to isolate the issue?
Make sure you're logged into an admin account, you can check this with the command "show users". (Role should be sysadmin, privilege level 15)
Ensure that you used 7zip to extract the .bin from the .tar
Is the .bin shown in the image directory? You can check with "dir image"
Is this a VLT environment?
On a side note, USB is typically a little faster in my experience, so it's my preference if available. If you do go with USB, make sure it's formatted FAT32 first, you can format the USB using the native Window format tool as long as it's under 32GB flash drive, then move the .bin file to the USB.
