VLAN interface in VLT

I have a pair of 4148 switches configured with VLT. I have VLAN 100 configured with an interface on both switches with the same IP address. This VLAN is specifically to be used for inter-switch communication to our edge switches via a port on each 4148 in a VLT-port-channel configuration. Edge switches will not be doing any routing so just L2. The IP for VLAN 100 is only set as the default gateway on the edge switches, nothing else such as servers or workstations will point to it. Would it be prudent to change this and use VRRP or is it fine to leave the same VLAN interface IP on both switches if this is the only purpose of the VLAN? I have a attached a crude diagram of what I have in place. It's working but wanted to see if VRRP is what I should be using.
