Why are you asking about a USB flash connection?  What kind of network card do you have in your 2200?  Most file and printer sharing problems are due to improperly configured firewalls.  On any computer running Windows XP with SP1, disable the Windows XP firewall. It will not allow File and Printer Sharing. On computers running Windows XP with SP2, make sure that the Windows XP firewall has File and Printer Sharing checked off on the Exceptions tab. If you are running any third party firewalls, like those provided by such programs as Zone Alarm, Norton Internet Security, or McAfee Security Center, make sure they are configured to allow local network traffic.

The flash disk is a new way of capturiing the network setup information so it can be carried from PC to PC.  However, I have always found it best to set this thing up manually.

Sorry, I have no idea what you are talking about.  Perhaps if you posted the full and exact text of these messages someone could help.  Perhaps if you avoided the wireless network wizard and just set it up manually, it would work.  If your wireless network connectin shows up under Network Connections, all you should have to do is right-click the wireless network connection, select View Available wireless networks, then find your wireless network and click on the Connect button.

NO it is not necessary.  The link above showed it was optional.

It is very helpful if you read the articles and disgest the information rather than just declaring "I can't do it".  Now if this was a SQL database setup, I could understand the frustration.  My guess is you jave something blocking the path, such as a firewall. Is this the case?
