Cannot connect to internet, audio does not work.

Okay well..it started off with a bigger problem..the laptop froze...I restarted it and it said something about a major file being missing or corrupted (which im sure is due to a virus)...so I have another computer which is not a laptop but a few years older that was built by a friend of a relative...so of course with my luck it isn't good enough that I really really need the laptop in order to do homewor..but since we moved I have not been able to find the box the laptop came in ..I can't remember if it included a disc..but anyways I used the disc from the regular desktop which was windows xp professional..and the one that was running on my laptop was windows home edition..so I got the message as I installed it that installing the two different ones..could mess things up..blah..blah..blah..so it installed and works fine..

but the audio doesnt work..it does not recognize it..and it does not establish a connection to the internet..I do have dsl and hookup with an ethnernet cord..I do not have a wireless card here..so I am unsure what to do..please help.

You will need to install the right audio and network card drivers for XP Pro.
