Encrypting my wireless network

Greetings: I have a wireless DSL network (g band) in my house. It is as of now unencrypted. Does that pose a threat for people hacking into like my computers (when they're in use) or seeing my online activity (stealing passwords when I use them, bank account info etc etc)? I'm not concerned about people stealing my internet connection- I know thats very possible, I'm rather concerned about people stealing information I send over my interent connection. thanks

Anything being sent accross the wireless network could be intercepted and used by someone with the knowledge to do it.  Furthermore, if you have File and Printer Sharing enabled, they can access the files in any shared driver or directory because they can connect to your network.  Thus, you should enable and use encyption as it will prevent both types of problems.
