I am on a school network in my dorm room and last year I was able to access other students who had share-level files on our network. Over Christmas break of last year I caught a virus and was forced to reformat my harddrive and reinstall Windows 98 and all of my other software under the supervision of one of your technicians which should all be in your call log database. At any rate, I never took notice because my spring semester was hectic and I never used the network to access share folders and during the summer because I was on a regular ISP I never used the Network Neighborhood icon, but not that I am back at school, I no longer had the network neighborhood icon. What I did notice though though from that new reinstallation I now recieved an error message every time Windows started up saying that it couldn't find the msnrlp.dll I think that was the driver file's name and I would hit enter and the computer would continue to boot normally. Well, just the other day I recieved a notification that there were new Critical Updates for Windows 98 through Microsoft's website and I downloaded them and upon rebooting the machine, Voila...I now had my network neighborhood icon back on my desktop and no longer had that error message upon the starting of Windows. Well, I was excited and tried to start sharing some of my files and gain access to other's on our school network like I once had. It's not working. I was right-clicking on the folder, hitting shared as and then saying that I wanted a read-only share...blah blah blah and I would get a message when I hit apply that I hadn't specified the list of people I wanted to have access to the folder and I would hit 'ok' and then get the error message that it "can not read the library CHOOSUSR.DLL" so I rebooted and then tried again and now instead of that message I now get "Cannot load the list of users at this time. Please try again later." What's up with that? I have File and Print sharing loaded under Neighborhood Network/Properties and all the correct network adapters are installed...nothing has changed since the last time except for the reinstallation a year ago. I realize I should have picked up on this a little sooner but I just have not had any time to do any of this because of school and now that things are at a lull, I am able to and I really want the network share-level access again. Is there a possible fix to this? I have done everything on Microsoft's web site and none of their fixes have worked. They didn't even have any on-line documented cases involving problems with the CHOOSUSR.DLL file. I hope someone can help me. I hope I don't have to reinstall Windows again. I have so much software and files that I would need to back up. Thanks in advance for any help! Sorry this was such a long-winded explanation.
