Going wireless?

I have a Dell Inspirion I6000 withe the wireless card and router installed. Comcast is my provider through cable with the ethernet connection. Everything has been setup and installed...BUT when remove the LAN connection from the computer to the router "internet" slot , I no longer have acsess to the internet...Am I missing anything?

    What settings for encyrption did you put on the router?  YOu might be better off just resetting the router to get back to a baseline and start fresh.
