Inspiron6400 w/ Intel 3945ABG WLAN

Hi everyone!
 
I hope, I can find anyone in this forum experiencing the same difficulities like I do. Here's the Info:
 
I've upgraded my Inspiron6400 from Win MCE to Vista Home Premium via the Dell Express Upgrade. Everything went fine during the installation and the system's running nearly perfectly.
 
"Nearly" because of the following problem:
Preparing Win MCE for the upgrade I used the DVD from Dell that was shipped along with the Express Upgrade. In the cause of this preparation I had to deinstall the Intel ProSet/Wireless-Utility that was used to manage my WLAN (setting security options, profiles and so on...), because the version would not work w/ Vista. That was the exact moment my WLAN-connection dropped (because MCE had to manage it now) and I were unable to reestablish it under MCE.
 
After the upgrade was finished, all latest drivers installed and everything seemed to work fine I again tried to set up a wireless connection, now managed by Vista. Result: No connection possible! My network is showing it's SSID and all options are definitely set correctly (WPA, passphrase, SSID...; a friend of mine gets a perfect connection w/ WinXP). Vista says "Authentication failed because of time delay" (or something like that; I don't know the English phrase...).
 
When I turn off the WPA-security I can connect to my WLAN without any problems! So the WLAN generally works, but unfortunately not with encryption...
 
So I tried the older drivers supplied by Intel. Same result. Dell Support was unable to help via mail.
 
I think the Intel ProSet/Wireless-Utility would solve the problem, but it isn't (yet)available for Vista.
 
Anyone any ideas?

- Intel WLAN 3945 ABG MiniCard, Drivers Vers. 10 and 11
- SMC Barricade 2804 Broadband Router
