Dear all,

I'm working with a laptop, model DELL Latitude E6400 (4GB memory). There is the software DELL ControlPoint (DCP) and DELL ControlPoint Connection Manager (DCM) installed.
Usually I'm working with network cable (LAN) but if I'm on duty trip I'm using very often WLAN to connect to the internet. That means, I'm booting usually the laptop without any connection to the net, and with switched off shifter for WLAN. If the system is up and running, I switch on the WLAN shifter positioned on the side of the laptop. The DCM aborted immediately with the following message (logical translated from German to English):
"Unknown error in Dell ControlPoint Connection Manager. The application will bve closed. Contact your IT department or Dell customer service to get support."

I start then once again the application, and I'm looking for the available WLAN networks. If I choose the one I would like to use the DCM aborts once again with the same message, but the connection to the WLAN network is available.

I tried to use normal Windows Network connection possibility, this is much faster and much more stable as the DCM software, this works fine. But, if I shutdown the PC and start the PC again, I will get this message:
“/idlist,:1724:804,” could not be find. Make sure, that the name is correct enteredand re-try the process. Click on …"

Our IT guys updated the BIOS and all according system programs two times - without success.

• Intel (R) 82567LM Gigabit Network connection (Driver 9.50.40.2)
• Intel (R) WiFi Link 5300 AGN (Driver: 12.1.2.1.)
• Dell Connection Manager Software: 1.2.02007, Software Version: 1.2.2.7 - 2180ay

Following questions.

1. Does anybody have an idea what the problem with DCM is?
2. What about the two error messages?
3. Is there a kind of log protocol availble somewhere on the PC?
4. Do I really need this DCM software?
5. I'm using Nokia PC Suite to snychronize my cellular phone with outlook. Any experiences in terms of problems with this software and DCM program?

That sounds alll a little bit strange… but I'm looking for a solution definetely.
