Real Dumb about Wireless
I travel by rv and since many RV parks now offer "wi-fi" I recently purchased an Inspiron 1200 laptop with a Dell Wireless 1350 PC card(802.11b/g,54 Mbps). I want to use this to connect to the internet to get e-mail and trip routing info. As I read some of the postings I sense that besides the capability to connect via a hotspot I would also need an ISP. My major problem is I live in the read end of nowhere. I can only get internet service through a small local phone company (only one access phone number). Will I have to suscribe to Aol, Msn, etc. to get service for the short time that I will be on the road. Are there any other rv'ers out there who have solved this problem? An answer from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Please don't make it too technical, as I said I am real dumb about all this stuff. Thanks.

The hotspots in RV parks provide access to the internet. You will not need you own ISP. For e-mail, however, you will need to have an email account that can be accessed over the internet. Yahoo and Hotmail accounts, which are free, can be used with no problem and can be accessed with a web browser.
