Sharing Files

When I drag and drop a file from the 'My Documents'  folder into the 'shared documents' folder, and someone else (another computer on the network) modifies the file, will the changes appear to the original file from the "My Documents" folder? Is the 'Shared Documents' folder really a folder? Or is the "Shared Documents" folder not really a folder but just a way to point to the files that I wish to allow access to others?

The shared documents folder is a real folder just like any other folder.  If the file is in the shared documents folder and it is modified by another user, then it is only modified in shared documents folder.  Any copies of that file in any other folder will not be changed.
