Am I right in assuming that I would also be restricted to WEP rather than WPA encription in mixed (b+g) mode?

I have failed to find a 'g' print server anywhere in the UK. Options of a wireless bridge with an ethernet print server work out quite expensive. So I've opted for a bluetooth print server:

Well, its been a bit longer than a few days and, as you might guess, things haven't been trouble free.

The Axis 5810 printserver is a bluetooth device built into a centronics plug that just plugs into the back of my printer. I plugged it in and set it up and my laptop found it right away. The software that came with it didn't work properly - it complained about the version of bluetooth suite, but My Bluetooth Places found the device and installed it right away. Hey presto, I was printing great - exactly as I wanted it.

This situation lasted for two days. Then, for no reason I can figure, it just stopped. The bluetooth software kept asking for a PIN although I understand that for printing services this shouldn't be necessary. Axis suggested using 0000 and this seemed to work (ie it was accepted), but printing still doesn't work. I tried re-installing the printer but to no avail.

I upgraded to the latest version of the bluetooth software on the Dell download site - no change. When I try to reinstall the printer now using the bluetooth set up wizard, it finds the device OK, but reports "error while adding the printer: the printer name is invalid". What does this mean?

Axis have now suggested installing the printer on a serial port. I have tried that on COM4, and the process seems to work, but all documents, including the initial test page, fail to print.

By now, I'm just going round in circles with Axis. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Still hoping for some advice...

I used windows restore to roll back to when the printer was working. Hey, its working again!

However, now McAfee Pro won't launch no matter how hard I try to make it do so. It appears blue in the system tray and just does nothing when I try to activate it. Also, about two minutes after logging on I get a Bluetooth error "unable to launch bluetooth stack service". Even after this, the printer continues to work.

Suspecting a McAfee compatibility problem, I'm going to try uninstalling that, but I'm clutching at straws here.

Any insights would be much appreciated!
