Optiplex 7010 CPU upgrade
I am upgrading my i5 cpu to an i7 3770k. I checked and the i7 3770k is compatible with the 7010. Some youtube sites suggest no BIOS update is necessary since the 7010 was shipped from Dell with the i7 3770k as an option.
Will I need to update the BIOS? And, if so, what BIOS version is needed?
Thanks!
Steve

No, you do not need to update bios to run i7-3770k. all the 7010 bios update versions are for other issues include security, but not for adding new microcode. i7-3770 and i7-3770k were supported in this model from the get-go.
i7-3770 and i7-3770k have identical cpuid.
