PE2400 Boot Problem

Hi,

I recently bought a working second hand PE 2400 to test some work based stuff on.  It originally came with various disks in a RAID 5 configuration, which I changed around to get the hang of the controller.  Anyway I had created a configuration whilst waiting for larger disks and more memory and then when disks and memory arrived I removed old disks, inserted new and added extra memory and then tried to boot . . . . and nothing.
Now I try to boot and there is nothing, no video signal, nothing.  All I get is a flashing drive activity light, top one of the three on the bottom left hand side of the front panel.

Any ideas please?

Many thanks,

Andy.

Took all the memory out and tried booting and it returned a load of angry beeps, so at least it knows the memory wasn't there.  Then I replaced the original working memory and the problem returned.

I have noticed that the drive lights are flashing, there is a steady green for the power but the right hand two, access and error, are flashing together.

I have disconnected the SCSI backplane and rebooted, same problem.
I have removed the RAID key and memory and rebooted, same problem.

    There are no cards installed.

Still at a bit of a loss.

Sounds like the memory...These modules must be PC133.  What's the specs on yours?

What happens if you pull the new memory out and try it?

Otherwise, maybe re-seat everything, check cables, etc...

Have you pulled all of the drives out of the machine.
I had a server once that just "Stopped", and it turned out to be a drive that not only died, but shorted out the power circuit.
Once the drive was removed, the server booted.
