PM Memory test

I have just installed a number of Dimms on a blank system and used the memory tester on the utility parition. Dimm 3 failed on a ECC message I have removed the Dimm and ensured I have optimised configuration of dimms. But PM Memory check wont start as it fails on EVlog telling me that I have previously failed and I need to clear the Event log. I cant find how to clear the log to check the remaining dimms? How is this done????

thanks

There are several ways to clear the ESM logs. You can use DSET within the OS. http://support.dell.com/dset. Install the application; no need to create a report at the end. Once installed, in the start menu, you will find DSET, and 'Clear ESM logs'.

If you see a ctrl+e during the end of POST, go into it and there will be a 'system event logs' and then an option to clear. I am not positive that this server has that option though.

Lastly, there is Server Administrator. If you have it installed, there will be a logs tab at the top and then an option to clear.

depending on which System you have it might be in a different spot, but in your BIOS you should have an Event Log option. Under ADVANCED on some. Under there it should let you CLEAR EVENT LOG.
