PE R710 software issue.

  Hello,

We have a server here (PE - R710) that needs an old software installed on it. The software is called caprera, it is a 90's vintage. The current issue that is stumping me is that the server will not install the software, whenever I try to run the setup.exe, I receive an error (Fatal Application Error) - (Exit due to error:33 - Could not open image file). The real odd thing is that we installed the software on another R710 a few months ago no issues. I have even wiped this server, thinking that there is a MS update or some other software that it interfeering with the install.. But that is not it, I install the W2K3 R2 O/S on the server with nothing else, still does not install. I have even downgraded the level of firmware / BIOS etc on the server to match the other server that has the software running. the only way that I can get the software to install is by installing from DOS in safe mode. I tried to install in compatibility more - nothing.. odd

Both servers are exact : same mem / processors etc..

      Just will not install..

        Why, Anyone?

        Thank you..

It could be a difference in processor, but if it's that old of a software version, why not install VMware ESX or so and run Windows 2003 in a virtual machines. The virtual machine environment is emulated legacy hardware, which may prevent compatibility issues between the old software and the new (fast) systems.
