W2K3 (x64) can see 2 paths, but Powerpath cannot see them

I have a Win2K3 (x64 - Std R2 Sp2) server with a DMX4 device with 2 paths. I have installed Powerpath 5.1SP1. When I rescan the server, 2 paths are picked up in Disk Admininstrator, but powerpath will not take control of the device at all.
I have re-installed Powerpath and removed and re-added the devices, but to no avail.
Any ideas?

Thanks
Jon

    Hi,

Make sure PowerPath array status is set for "managed" either by checking the "powermt display options" file in the emcgrab or by running the same "powermt display options" command at the host prompt.

If the specified array is set for "unmanaged":

powermt manage class=symm (or class=clariion, etc.)
    powermt display dev=all
    powermt save.

Starting with PowerPath 5.x, arrays can be managed or unmanaged. The intention of this solution is to help make sure that the easiest and sometimes most overlooked issue is checked first, which is an "unmanaged class" situation. This can be determined very quickly.

    Thanks

    In Disk Administrator I see

    Disk 0 - Path via 7A:0
    Disk 1 - Local
    Disk 2 - VCM
    Disk 3 - Path via 10A:0
    Disk 4 - VCM

When I run a powermt display I get a 'No device(s) found" message
Also tried a powermt check reconfig - same message.

Have you entered a licence key for the product?

Try "powermt check_registration" from the command line.
Is the type of license correct for the type of array?

I've entered a License key and "Symmetrix" is managed.

If you ran EMCreports on this host before then you can run INQ.exe. You can find this in %SYSTEMROOT%\EMCReports\bin.

Please post the output from INQ.exe.

Furthermore, when you installed PP, how many paths were zoned/masked at that point ?

reason I am asking: it is better to install PP with only 1 path, once all working, you can zone in the additional paths.

    If you have the opportunity:
    - Unzone 1 path, ensure you only have 1 path to your devices
    - Uninstall PP (including reboot)
    - Check all dev's OK without PP
    - Install PP (including reboot)
    - Check all dev's OK with PP on 1 path
    - Once you are happy with the above, zone in additional paths
    - Check all dev's OK with PP on all paths

    Rgds,
    Edwin.
