660F - Initializing Raid 5 (11 disks) - taking a very long time.
I have just recently setup a PE2650 direct connection to a PV660F. Everything is working but the initialization of a Raid5 (11 disks) is taking a very long time. It looks like the initialization will take 24 hours to complete. I am not seeing any errors in the event log.
You may want to try 'downgrading' to the versions on the Dell
4.06 support matrix.
Main things that stand out are:
- Bios 1.45 for the QL2200
- Qlogic driver 7.05.08
- QLconfig 1.38 (no SANsurfer)
- if you're using multiple paths use QLdirect 7.03.10 for failover
Thank you! I always have a difficult time finding drivers on Dell's site.
I am going to compare the i/o performance using my current driver/software set compared to using the driver/software listed in the Dell
4.06 support matrix. I will post the results when I am done.
I changed the raid configuration from raid5 to raid01. The i/o analysis will compare raid01 - 12 disks (newer drivers/software) with raid01 - 12 disks (drivers/software listed on the dell 4.06 support matrix).
The initialization is not any faster with the older drivers/software. I will post the i/o analysis tomorrow.

- OS? SP?
- Qlogic driver version?
- Array Manager version?
- bios version of the PV660 (7.51, 7.76 or 7.82)?
