MD3200i for Virtual Desktop environment

Hello,

i am starting a business with 20 users, 4-5 servers and i would like to virtualize everything. I chose server to be R720 , switch 5524p and MD3200i iSCSI storage. Now i would like to imeplement vmware view 5 VDI. Since i know VDI is very IOPS hungry, can this storage take this setup (let's say 300GB RAID10 setup of drives will be inside it)? I would like to avoid at all costs slow desktops.

If I am understanding you correctly you are planning on installing ESXi 5 on a server and use VMWare view on the backend to virtualize the desktops. Then use the MD3200i to store the data for the infrastructure. All of the hardware that you mentioned will work great together and you shouldn't have any issues getting it to work with the ESXi. This will be a very solid configuration. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Yes you are right and i would also use that same storage for 4-5 virtual servers. I shouldn't have any performance issues because of Gbit connection bottleneck (i would use single server for this setup)?

Nope you should be just fine. I would just recommend following the deployment guide which I am including below and it will walk you through the setup process.

I am here if you have any questions.
