Compatability between Precision T7910 and Nvidia RTX A5000 GPU
Hi!
We have a Dell Precision Tower 7910 workstation purchased almost 8 years ago. Here are the complete <link with service tag removed; private info> for reference. This workstation has a preinstalled Nvidia Quadro K2200 GPU and we later upgraded the RAM.
Recently we acquired an Nvidia RTX A5000 GPU that I am trying to include in our setup. The workstation has a 1300W power supply and the motherboard has two PCIe3.0x16 (75W+EXT-225W) slots (2 & 4) as well. The GPU needs 230W power and an 8-pin PCIe power connector that is available in our current configuration.
From my understanding, this GPU should be working perfectly (even if it is PCIe3) for regular use. However, upon installation, the GPU turns on when the workstation is powered up but booting doesn't begin at all. I even tried using Quadro K2200 in slot2 for the monitor and A5000 in slot4 (to check I can change A5000 to TCC instead of WDDM, after I boot it up) and found that it causes a bootloop.
I looked into similar issues but I haven't been able to figure out the reason why it doesn't work. Here are a couple of discussions from a similar situation: Thread1 & Thread2.
The BIOS is currently on the latest available version from Dell and the workstation is running on Windows 10 Enterprise OS. Can anyone help me out with this?

@Chino de Oro The secure boot was already disabled in the BIOS. Can you suggest some other steps that I can try?

You may want to check the 8-pin cable that power the card, test with a different 8-pin or combine x2 6-pin.
Other option is disable ASPM in BIOS settings.

Before installing the A5000, disable Secure Boot in BIOS settings to see if it may help.
The T7910 can not fully utilized the potential of the new A5000 but that is another subject to consider.
