There are a number of factors that can determine the boot time:

If the systems have ECC type memory (you can check this by going to http://www.dell.com/support/home/ and entering the service tag. Click on System Configuration, then Original Configuration, then Components)

Dell Reliable Memory Technology (RMT) being enabled in the BIOS (listed under Performance) will slow down the boot time, but I wouldn't recommend disabling it.

Another factor is if the systems have RAID configured since the controller for that also needs to be initialized.

Other factors include network connections and any peripheral/external devices attached to the systems.

Apparently, it seems that the root cause is POST check requested by Intel NIC and this is an expected behavior from NIC card. For the moment there is no solution but Dell engineering is working with Intel towards a long term firmware fix.

My Dell Precision 5820 has non-ECC memory and no RAID.

I have updated the BIOS to 2.12.1.

Ubuntu boot time is  1 minute 10 seconds.

Dell logo is displayed 24 seconds after power on.

Could you please provide an update on this issue?

I suspect that it's by design, @MarcinSochacki . My 7820 has the same timings with windows, and my feeling is that some diagnostics are performed, that we cannot see, during that time
