Video TDR Error Precision T1700
AMD FirePro 2270 Blank Screen & Video TDR Failure
I have a dual screen setup using this video card.
Need some help with finding a permanent fix for this video card problem. Started ever since Windows 10 1709 update.
Seems the system does not display anything after the final reboot for any Windows 10 feature update. To get my dual screen setup to work has been the following:
1. Disconnect the dual screen dongle
2. Plug in a VGA Cable
3. Reboot computer
4. Go to AMD website and download latest FirePro 2270 driver (Jan. 2017 is the latest)
5. Install driver
6. Reboot
7. Plug in Dual Screen dongle. You will hear the new hardware chime
8. Shutdown PC
9. Disconnect VGA Cable
10. Dual Screen works.
Problem #2
Recently the screen started flashing and turning blank. To get my displays back I would have to force power down and restart.
However, recently, i get the flashing and then a blue screen with the following message: Video TDR Failure What failed: atikmpag.sys
I looked this up and came up with a few articles. This article below pretty much sums up all the solutions I found. I tried Method 2 & 3 to no avail.
Google Search: Troubleshooter fix video tdr failure atikmpage sys
After trying this, I had to reinstall the latest driver for the AMD FirePro card and got video back. However, video very finicky at this point. A windows update for this week seems to have blacked out my dual screens and I am back to a single VGA display.
System: Dell Precision T1700
Win 10 1803
I don't want to have to go out a buy a new Video Card if I do not have to. The whole point of buying this Precision Workstation is not have these kinds of problems.

We are always getting Windows-10 updates, so that is likely just a coincidence.
You can try (carefully and properly) re-seating the video card in the slot.
Machine should be able to run a successful full ePSA Diagnostic (outside of Windows).
If "clean installing" the proper drivers does help either, it could be a bad video card. Use your Dell Extended Warranty if you have one.
You can try a different (spare) video card (even if it's "smaller"). If that works, then you know the rest of the machine is good. Other than that, I think I would have a qualified computer technician take a look at it. Pay them with the money you saved by not spending on Extended Warranty.
