Hi All, total Noob to forums.
I work for a large UK company and we have reimaged several Precision 7550's to our own WIN10 image.
The Bios has been update to the latest version via Dell.
We are suffering from random screen black outs which then won't wake unless the lid is closed then reopened.
This happens whether it is attached to an external monitor or not.
I have changed settings on the Nvidia drivers and on the power options but it still happens
Can anyone point me in the right direction/ forum for this please.

The solution is to download the Nvidia PowerMizer manager software from software.informer.com
Check enable PowerMizer
Check fixed performance level select medium for both battery and mains.
Check Overheat slow down override. Select disable overheat slowdown.
That's it.

I don't think that's it. I have 3 I am working on that have the blank screen symptoms. If you plug an external monitor in that works fine. I will try the settings you mentioned.

This response is late, but I spent two weeks on this issue. Hopefully, this will save someone else time when they stumble into this.
About half of the Dell Precisions 7750s I have worked on have this issue during their lifecycle. The symptoms: Computer is on, keyboard and lights will be on, screen is black and will not wake no matter what buttons your press. A reboot temporarily fixes it, but will immediately revert back to the black screen.
Solution: There are two magnets located inside the laptop that tell the display when the lid is shut. When loose, the lid stays in the "shut lid" state. Move these magnets back to their slots or remove them entirely. The screen lock will still perform with one of these two magnets. (Location and size of magnets vary between dell precisions)
1. Open the cover off of the bottom of the laptop.
2. Locate the two magnets on each bottom right and left corner.
3. Ensure these magnets are in their respective slots. You can tell if they have moved if there is wiggle room, or they are crooked.
4. Remove the magnet(s) that are loose, or push them back into their slots.

Any update on this? bottm magnets are fine. We have 4 7550's that are having the same issue. I have replaced the system board on all 4. but user still complains of random screen blackout. Verified no magnets nearby and user dont have a watch with magnet. BIOS and all drivers updated via dell command.

@desert19o2 need more info about this: swapping palmrest. Does it mean replacing the touchpad , or swapping with other precision 7550 laptop ?

The fix for this last post was to have the palmrest's replaced through Dell-Cares.
