1600n - Internal Error - False

I occasionally get an error in the follow syntax:

INTERNAL ERROR- FALSE

POSITION: 0x8fa3eb (9413611) (Note: this probably varies)

SYSTEM: H6FW/xl_image

LINE: 476

VERSION: QPDL 12.24 02-27-2004

I am printing from two different machines using the ethernet ip connection.

I can try reinstalling the drivers on the pc, but I wanted to see if anyone has run into this type of error before....

Thanks...

    Hello,

this message normaly means that you try to print some features that are not supported by the driver you're using in this case try to print using the PS (1600n PS) drivers.

    Frumble :smileytongue:

    Hi there:

A client of mine received the exact same error message when printing a custom report from Quickbooks 2005 - what application were you using at the time of the error?  I am going to have him try either the PCL6 or PS driver instead of the default system driver.

    Thanks in advance.

Just MS Word from Office 2000 if I remember correctly. It tends to happen to my wife as she is printing out her college papers. I just got around to installing the PS driver and will see if that helps.

I also am seeing this on my 1600n.  I've had the printer about 7 months, and I print to it via TCP, using the PCL6 drivers.  I have not made any configuration changes in months.  Starting in the last week, I have seen this error on three occasions, which makes me think that something's failing.  Twice printing from Adobe Acrobat, one from Internet Explorer.

The POSITION line differs from what you posted, but everything else is identical.

Does anyone here (Dell techs, perhaps) know what could be causing this?

I am having a similar problem and could use some help.  I have 13 computers connected through a network and all sharing one printer, Dell 1600n.  All of the computers print docs fine except for 1.  That one will only print certain simple docs, like emails from outlook.  It will not print anything more complex.  i have tried the suggestions listed here and have had 0 success at resolving this issue.  I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer driver several times and againe, no success.  Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  To this point I have not been able to make sense of what is occuring.

In my case, the problem was unrelated to the printer -- it was a network hardware issue.  This was just the first symptom.  Once I got my network back in shape, the printer had no further problems.

Is there any solution to this problem?  I get it about 1 or 2 times a week (out of dozens of print jobs).  Usually, the first couple of pages print fine, then I get the error message.  I usually try to re-print and that will work (although sometimes I need to reprint 2 or 3 times to get the document).  No one else networked to this computer has this problem.

FYI...... this is a very old thread. Originally posted in Sept. 2005

Is anyone else using this printer printing the EXACT SAME document you are? (you say no one else using this printer encounters this problem?)

Is it always the SAME document that causes this problem? (if it's a document coding problem, you should get this problem every time you try to print it)

What application are you printing from?

Just for grins, you may want to ensure the printer has the latest FW updates installed.

    I'd check drivers AND firmware.

If you should end up calling tech support for any reason, that's just about gonna be the first thing they ask.

It happens with different documents, printed from Word, WordPerfect, and Adobe Acrobat.  I don't think it would make sense seeing if others can print the document, since I am able to after several tries.  (I did see it was an old thread, but it was the same problem and I was wanting to see if anyone had figured it out.)  I'll check about the print drivers.
