Dell 1700 Duplex Issue

When i log intot he printer, i only see the options for on or off under duplex? This causes and issue because we have software that needs to be able to do both.

Is there a way the pritner can be set to an "Auto" feature for duplex like most printers i have seen in the past?

I'm a little confused..... are you sure this is a 1700 printer?

Dell's 1700 printer never shipped with a duplex option and there is no duplex option avalaible.

The Duplex (2-side printing) you refer to applies only to manual duplexing.

By log on, i mean through the web brower to view printer settings. We have programs which on all of our other printers auto duplex. I see an option to turn the duplex on or off on the printer side, but that will inturn print everything or nothing in duplex, depending on which option you pick.

I guess my question is i am used to seeing an auto duplex option which allows the application to pick which documents need to be printed in duplex and i am having trouble getting this to work with our Dell's.

    Ahhh..... BIG difference.

The 1720dn DOES integrate a Duplex unit.

When yu say "when I login to my printer", can you please elaborate?

Typically, Duplex operations are application controlled. In other words, if the user sends a job that also requires duplexing, the application controls that via the printer driver.
