I recently had some problems with my XP operating system (long story) and had to reinstall parts of it, back to SP1. Somehow, in the process, I think, the connection between my printer and computer got a screw loose.
When I print a document, it remains in the que, supposedly deleting, until I turn off the printer to reset it.
When I restart my computer, there is sometimes a message that says something like "spool***.exe" has a problem.
I have downloaded the XP driver and reinstalled it (I did not uninstall the previous one . . .)
HELP!! This is too frustrating and time consuming!!
If you went back to SP1 after installing SP2, my understanding was that you could not uninstall SP2. I would be really interested in knowing what you did to go to SP1. About the only way to uninstall SP2 from what I understand is to wipe your HD clean and reinstall all original software only.
I had the supervision of Microsoft Tech services when we were trying to solve the problems. I did reinstall XP, and honestly, after 10 hours, I don't remember what we did to remove SP2. Sorry.
Sorry, that was the only thing I could think of. If you know how you might try what I mentioned. Wiping your Hard Drive clean and reinstalling all your original software only but be careful that you have all the original software such as the operating system and your peripherals. Also back up your hard drive before doing this. Good Luck. :smileyhappy:
Hi, I read the replies about removing SP2 and I was under the impression that now you can uninstall Sp2. I have done it several times and haven't had any problems.
