power off>power on>LCD reads "paper jam" (many times now i have searched thoroughly for paper.)>
open and close scanner assembly>lcd reads "preparing printer", this sticks.
i may not have reported the order which i do those steps, i've gone through them so many times they are jumbled.
i am really sure there is not a scrap of paper, unless it is utterly hidden. as for "preparing printer"? i've run installation from the CD. it's connected.
Printer should work like a copying machine, no computer needed to be attached. If the printer does not power on, then it's something with the printer, usually the Dell Series ink cartridges and/or the printhead.

samo10003,
What happens if you unplug the printer from the wall. Then remove the power brick for 60 seconds, then plug it back in?
Are you using Dell Series 21, 22 ink cartridges, generic or refilled cartridges?
