Is the Dell Media Experience software even compatible with Windows XP Professional? My new computer keeps asking for discs that I don't have and can't seem to get from Dell. I was promised the Dell Media Experience disc to try to re-install back around the first of October and it still has not arrived (was not in stock). This program has never worked as it should. I have just left a message with a case supervisor to try to get assistance, but I am about ready to uninstall the program and forget it. I hate to pay for something that won't work. Can you help? None of the FAQ posted by moderator help. I'm no computer guru, and that's why I am asking about a possible compatibility problem. A lot of people obviously are having problems with this software.
Is there any way we can get an answer here? Obviously A LOT of people are having this problem. Dell Media Experience worked fine on my 700m, and then one day...no more. Says I need the CD's to install. I also am ready to uninstall it, as I can't figure out its advantage over Windows Media player anyway.
Similar issue here, it hasn't worked at all and says Unable to Launch, please re-install software. But today, it loaded when waking up from Standby - I still get the error when using the button when the system is active. Just too weird.
I would be happy to, but it doesn't seem there's any resolution. Dell Support couldn't take care of it. My guess is you need the CD to correct. The odd thing about mine, is that it didn't work when I received the machine and then magically worked a couple of times and then went away again.
RE DELL MEDIA EXPERIENCE I TALKED TO A DELL REP IN TENESSEE AND HE SUPPOSED TO SEND ME A CD WITH THE SOFTWARE ON IT. THAT WAS 4 DAYS AGO AND HAVENT RECIEVED IT YET.
I also have the MediaDirect problem not working after re-installing windows. I have the XPS M140. I have tried using the MediaDirect repair utility and all it does is rewrite the MBR with no positive results. When looking at the MediaDirect reinstall instructions it specifies to have a partition of 1351 or so MB for the MediaDirect feature, but when looking at my drive partitions, there are no 1351MB partitions only a 4GB for windows restore and 50MB one for repair utilities. On the Dell website there is also a patch for the MediaDirect (fixes issue with daylight savings time), when I tried to install it, I was unable to because it said that no MediaDirect is installed (it is installed because it runs when windows is booted and I press the MediaDirect button).
Exactly same machine and problem I was having. After a couple of attempts, online Email support is now sending me the full set of disks so I can reload the software.
Dell sent me 5 Software Reinstallation CDs are are "supposed" to image your drive to the EXACT specifications as it left the factory.
NOT TRUE. It puts back the OS and the other garbage software Dell puts on there but NO MEDIADIRECT or anyway of booting it up without booting up Windows compeletly.
I believe Dell needs to SPECIFICALLY send the MediaDirect Reinstallation CD(s) for the I-630m / M140 Laptops.
i just recieved my CD with the dell media wxperience on it. it was a dell tools cd and installed media experience back on my XPS fine. just like when i recieved the pc from dell. hope this helps spmeone out.
