Outlook 2003 Send/Receive Button Not Working

I'm using outlook 2003 and when I press the send/receive button, nothing happens. If I send a message regularly it works but not the send/receive button. I just recently installed AVG Free anti-virus on my computer and it stopped working after that. I tried to disable the e-mail scanner but it still wouldn't work. Please help.

    I have the free AVG program and it works fine with Outlook and Vista. Have you rebooted and tried using Outlook? Sometimes that's all it takes. Recheck your account settings to make sure the server settings have not changed.
