Just got it last week, everything looks using PC/S-Video/Composite input.
Problem: when I use a DVD player with component input, it's dark and the color is red/brownish...., I have been adjusting...everywhere through OSD, I even tried to use different DVD player: progressive and non-progresive, change setting on DVD to 480P or 480i., same color problem.
I've even adjusted the RED all the way down, obviously the display is just not balance, but still the red/brown is there when the display is in 16 X 9 format, I can see the border red/brownish.
My conclusion is a) Something wrong with the cable were blue and green do not picked up correctly, b) Defective.
However if that how it's supposed to...well it's going back. Any advise, I've seen comments where DELL Projector is just not meant for movies because of always problem with colors, it's good for PC stuff.
Does anyone have experience the same problem????? Or may any suggestion. I do like the projector, good price, great picture quality if I don't use component input. However, I can truly see the difference in image quality when I use component input, problem is just the color tooooo much red.
I have a component cable connected to it, and it is absolutely incredible, dont let anyone tell you its not for movies , its movie theatre like pic and better. and if you hook up hdtv forget about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had the same problem when I connected my 2200MP to my DVD player. Eventually figured out that with my old DVD player (APEX 610), I had to specify (using the DVD menu) that video output mode should be Component instead of S-Video. Once I made the change colors displayed correctly.
So you should ensure your DVD player is outputting the correct signal by checking the DVD menu video output options.
