Drivers

I had to re-install Windows XP and that means re-installing drivers too....  After doing this my latop doesnt run quite as fast as it used to.  Do i need some drivers that i didnt install?  I dont know which ones to install from the list that the disc gives me?  HELP!!!!

    check in device manager that your hdd's current transfer mode is using dma.

    device manager>ide controllers>primary>properties>advanced settings
    NB some dell laptops have the hdd connected to the secondary ide instead of primary.

    What do you mean 'it doesn't run as fast'? Without a benchmark or something to compare it to, how can you be sure it's really running slow?

    Maybe you just need to defrag the disk?

    It is.... its using Ultra DMA Mode 2.  Anything else you can think of that would help?

    Sorry i dont really have anything to compare it too...it just doesnt run like it used to like in games and stuff like that.  i just thought maybe there were other drivers i needed to re-install that i didnt.

    All possible (and latest) drivers and chipset support is under the Downloads tab above.

    I'm betting you didn't install the Intel Chipset Drivers. That adds support for your processor and lets the OS use certain features.
