ipod issues

Can't import music from CD or hard drive to itunes library. My system should be compatible with this, please tell me if there are any upgrades/downloads I require. I have P4 2.8G/512MB ram/160G hard drive IDE with 8mB Databurst cache (15995)/ 16x max DVD +/- RW with dual layer write capability (22222). Please note I have already downloaded the new chipset driver, the ata bus driver update so itunes should recognise the drive but does not, any ideas??

    Thank you for visiting the Dell Community Forum.
     
    I have to start by saying that I am not that familiar with the iTunes software and it is not something that we test here at Dell, but the first thing I would try if you have not already done so, is to check to see if you have the latest version or updates of the iTunes software installed. Check the iTunes web site for information on software updates:
     
     
     
    Another option that I know of some people using is third party iPod software like ephPod:
     
    If you don’t get any answers here, you may also want to check the forums at www.ipodlounge.com which have a lot of information on the iPod and iTunes.

    Steven, sorry to bother you again, but could you recommend the media I should use for burning DVD's and CD's? I want to make sure the media is compatible with the DVD RW I have as shown above, Thanks Mick........

    And here is a site that shows user surveys of the best DVD media:

    You'll find a few companies in both lists.
