problem with umountable boot

I have been here before with the same problem but let this computer sit for about 3 months! I purchased this optiplex 150 thru rent a center 2 years ago. They never gave me any recovery disc or anything. Anyway, the thing has been displaying the message on a blue screen that says: "A problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer"...unmountable boot volume.
Technical info: 0x000000ed (0x81f66e30, 0xc0000032, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) and at other times the first set of numbers are 0x81f09e30
Some folks say I need a recovery disc to fix it but have had no luck in getting one.I have cxalled dell and they cannot help me. I called rent a center and they tell me to get lost! Some say my computer is forever gone. Any susgestions would be greatly apprciated.

    Hi,

According to my understanding this problem can be fixed in two ways - but both of them would require the Operating System CD.

    a) If you are using the Windows XP CD, we can boot with the Windows XP CD choose the option R to repair on the setup screen and then run the chkdsk /r to fix. Usually this fixes the problem

    b) In some situations we might need to reinstall the complete operating system.
