UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
Forgive me is this is a repeated issue, but have searched & don't find one with same numbers:
Here is the message:
UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
*** STOP: 0x000000ED (0x823DD030,0xC000009C, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
I did not find any with "0x823DD030" in it's thread.
I cannot get my PC to reboot into Safe Mode or Command Prompt & cannot get it to boot to a CD Rom
Please help!

BobandDeannaThe usual cause for an UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME error message is a failed hard drive.Bev.Please don't send me questions about your system by DCF Messenger.
Post the issue in the appropriate Board, where they will be answered.
Reply - try to Press F12 at the Dell screen and then run either the "IDE drive Diagnostics" or "Hard drive diagnostics". after 3 minutes it will give you a pass or fail at the end of the first drive.another thing you can do is run CHKDSK, if you have your windows XP CD.Turn on the system. Press F12. put the windows CD in the TOP cd rom drive. select the CD CDRW drive and press enter. Press "R" for recovery console at the "welcome" screen. if it asks for which OS, press 1 and enter. leave password blank. At the DoS prompt type: "CHKDSK /R" and enter.
