I have an Inspiron E1505 running XP Pro. I discovered today that Windows is not recognizing the CD/DVD drive. Well, it kind of does. It shows in Device Manager without any conflicts. However it doesn't show in My Computer at all. If I put a disc in, it spins up but nothing happens. Rebooting didn't help. Uninstalling and reinstalling from Device Manager didn't help. I can't think of why Windows can see the drive to the point that it shows in Device Manager, but it's not showing in My Computer. The only thing I can think of is that it has something to do with MediaDirect. I wiped my computer when I got it, and I just reinstalled MediaDirect the other night. I'm not sure if the drive had worked in Windows since, it may not have. It works fine for MediaDirect. Any ideas?
