I have a T320 with an iDRAC7. At some point Power Supply 2 had a single event where the voltage fluctuated causing it to log an error message in the System Event Log as well as the Lifecycle Log. As a result, the Voltages heading under System Summary in the iDRAC console has a red X next to it.
The specific error reported is "PS2 PG Fail". I contacted Dell support for assistance on troubleshooting/clearing the error. Apparently the summary will show the red X as long as there is an error message in the log. I cleared the SEL but the red X remains. The next logical step would be to clear the Lifecycle Log, however it seems that is not possible without completely resetting the iDRAC.
Could it really be that there is no way to clear the red X from the Voltages summary without resetting the iDRAC? This seems a bit ridiculous to me. The whole point of the IDRAC is to be able to manage the server remotely. If an admin determines that an error can be ignored then there should be an easy way to reset the summary view so that all green check marks are displayed. As it stands, the summary is fairly useless as I don't know if another voltage error has occurred without sifting through the logs.
Unfortunately that is the only way to clear the lifecycle controller log. It is part of a process that is called LCwipe which also clears all configuration from the iDRAC.
Hi, I have the same issue on a R720, it looks like a PSU has overheated and crossed the voltage threshold and now a voltage probe status shows a red X at "PS2 PG Fail". we have replaced the suspected PSU with a new one but the red X is still present.
We have used RACADM to reset the iDRAC and restarted the openmanage services, we haven't tried a reboot of the server as yet as it is a heavily used production server.
Do i understand correctly that the only way of refreshing the status of the voltage probe is to factory default the iDRAC ? losing all settings and past event records ?
This seems a little extreme for a fault condition that is no longer present.
